I’m Really Disappointed- Politics as Usual by Sarah Palin

I read this week about one of my favorite people, Sarah Palin, endorsing John McCain for his re-election in Arizona. Here is a direct quote from the article:

Palin says "we need John McCain fighting for us" because he is "fighting harder for Americans today up against Obama’s misguided policies" and she wants to see him re-elected.  "I do support John McCain, and I would come out again in a heartbeat and say absolutely I support him."

Is this the same John McCain that described himself as a Liberal Republican (a slip of the tongue some time back but rather telling in my opinion)? The same one that supports Cap & Trade? The same one that co-authored a very restrictive campaign finance law? The same John McCain that has been a Senator since 1983? I thought it was wrong that the late John Murtha served in Congress for 39 years, and it’s likewise wrong Mr. McCain has made a career out of the Senate. Yet another example of the political class that is ruining our country by deviating from the Constitution.

I appreciate the conservative viewpoint espoused by Sarah Palin, and have quoted her to many people when she wrote about slowing the growth of the government, living within our means, and saving for the future. However, her endorsement of John McCain is pure political payback, and shows how easily she will compromise her values. John McCain needed Sarah Palin (or a conservative) to "balance" his ticket in 2008. She did not need him.

The McKain I favor, Paul McKain, has no such issues. He is clear on the fact he stands on Principles above Party. One of these principles is that regular people with common sense should run for office, serve a couple of terms, and return home. This is the type of person we need in our Congress.

About Paul Henry

Paul has a law enforcement background, having served as a Florida Deputy Sheriff and State Trooper for over 25 years until he retired. He worked many levels and positions within the FHP, from road patrol trooper to lieutenant in criminal investigations, where he investigated numerous criminal cases. After retirement, Paul wished to pursue his automotive hobby and be left alone, but saw an increasing amount of waste in government as well as the government's increasing involvement in our private lives and liberty, so he became politically active. Paul is the founder of the non-partisan citizen's group Floridians Against REAL ID, and authored two bills for the 2012 Florida legislative session: REAL ID partial repeal and Motorist Rights (red light cameras). Paul is the 2013 Legislative Action Committee Chair for The Tea Party Network, a network for constitutional and Tea Party groups to do more than just complain about issues. Paul works as the Deputy Director for Legislative Affairs with the Florida Campaign for Liberty and lives in the Tallahassee, Florida area.

Our major issue in this country is our two political parties. Our forefathers knew that a two party system would be our downfall and took steps to try to stop this type of politics, and thus anyone who seriously thinks that politics isn’t corrupt or slaves to Corporate America hasn’t not been paying attention. George Jr. will go down in History as one of the worst administrations in history and I could go on for hours showing why, but my point is that the Obama administration has offered nothing different (besides health reform, granted) and has in fact continued nearly every single Bush program. Obama has almost the same political donors and thus has the same pressures as Bush did. Health reform will turn out to be the most expensive and destructive waste of tax payer money ever. I just wish I could offer a better alternative for other frustrated people, but I can’t and those that think that the tea partiers are the future, remember that Sarah Palin is an important figure to them.

Thanks for the comment. Sarah Palin was an important figure to me too, but I also place importance on things like principles. Loyalty is one thing, but when you've been dumped on that cancels any obligation in my book. The McCain campaign dumped on her after the election, so why she is supporting him is a mystery to me. I see Mr. Hayworth has closed to within 7 points as of a couple of days ago. We have long-term incumbents in both parties that need to be replaced, and Mr. McCain is one of them.
