About Paul Henry

Paul has a law enforcement background, having served as a Florida Deputy Sheriff and State Trooper for over 25 years until he retired. He worked many levels and positions within the FHP, from road patrol trooper to lieutenant in criminal investigations, where he investigated numerous criminal cases. After retirement, Paul wished to pursue his automotive hobby and be left alone, but saw an increasing amount of waste in government as well as the government's increasing involvement in our private lives and liberty, so he became politically active. Paul is the founder of the non-partisan citizen's group Floridians Against REAL ID, and authored two bills for the 2012 Florida legislative session: REAL ID partial repeal and Motorist Rights (red light cameras). Paul is the 2013 Legislative Action Committee Chair for The Tea Party Network, a network for constitutional and Tea Party groups to do more than just complain about issues. Paul works as the Deputy Director for Legislative Affairs with the Florida Campaign for Liberty and lives in the Tallahassee, Florida area.

My Money- Yes or No?

Where’s my refund? In my case, it’s anything but quick or easy. One of my favorite movies (although rather violent) is Payback, starring Mel Gibson as Porter. His character in the film is a criminal- a robber. The plot is … Continue reading

Vote for Obama or Romney- It’s Biblical

The fundamental factor here is that once you begin down the path of massive regulations you make business so difficult that a small business cannot deal with them, and they cannot afford to expand. This has caused American businesses to seek investment away from America. 79% of small business owners said excessive taxes, excessive regulation and legislation make it harder for them to hire more employees. Excessive regulations cost us $1.75 trillion each year. Continue reading

The M.I.A. Media on Red Light Cameras

So what does the media have to do with all of this? Like anything else they deem worthy of investigation, they can show if the facts align with what is taking place. If they do not, we can’t be sure the information they are presenting (which is often a press release from either local government or worse yet a camera company) is accurate. Continue reading

Everybody Wins a Trophy

One of my favorite movies contains the line “There are no points for second place.” While that scenario dealt with Air Combat Maneuvering, the lesson remains the same for our lives. Life invariably gives us wins and losses. Our Declaration of Independence speaks of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It does not mention the assurance of happiness, as that is something no one can guarantee. Continue reading

A Vote for Ron Paul is a Vote for Obama

and by extension, what is a vote for Mitt Romney? Based on Mr. Romney’s record, it’s clear a vote for Mitt Romney more so than a vote for Ron Paul is in fact a vote for Mr. Obama, as Mr. Romney is more similar to Mr. Obama than he is to Ron Paul. Continue reading

Vote them ALL out? Here are 18.

According to the bill’s supporters, the idea is to make it easier for corporations and the government to share information about potential cybersecurity issues. But the bill’s text goes much farther than that. It would allow web companies to share virtually any information about their users with the government, without a court order. No prior privacy laws would apply. Continue reading

With Age Usually Comes Wisdom

This election to me boils down to one simple thing: Do you like the way we’re going, or are you willing to try something different with someone that has the unique quality (for a politician) of constitutional consistency? If the former, choose either Mr. Romney or Mr. Obama. Just like picking a red taxi or a blue one, they will both take you to the same destination. How about we skip the cab ride (and the $15+ trillion cab fare) and instead choose another means, Ron Paul, to go in the opposite direction? Continue reading

A Tale of Two Smiths…

Which Smith do you prefer: The Agent or the Statesman? I’m not an attorney and don’t play one on the Internet. But I do like to read. I get news stories about red light cameras as well as other legislative … Continue reading

A Tribute to a Friend

I have good news and bad news here. This is something I’ve been meaning to write for a few weeks but kept putting it off. The good news is one of our local troopers has been coming to our church … Continue reading

Safety and Cameras: By the Numbers

A recent letter to the editor in Jacksonville, where the local government is considering putting up several red light cameras, suggested we needed red light cameras everywhere. In my reply to this letter, I learned some interesting information, and did … Continue reading
